The Story Behind the Cassandra

In the 1940s and 1950s, the pleated mid-calf skirt became the standard on women's golf courses. The pleat was a practical answer to a technical problem: it opened through the swing and closed again at address, giving players full rotation without breaking the line of the skirt — elegance and function solved in a single detail.

It was the silhouette of the era's finest players, among them Louise Suggs, who in 1946 won both the Titleholders Championship and the Women's Western Open while still an amateur, and who in 1950 became one of the thirteen founders of the Ladies Professional Golf Association.

In the early 1980s the same silhouette returned to the course — shorter, brighter, and unmistakably shaped by its decade.

From par by par's 2026 collection, the Cassandra continues that line — slightly shorter than its archive reference, cut for modern movement, and still longer than most golf skirts made today.
